Boredom Ninja

I’m soooooooo bored!

My parent used to tell me only boring people get bored. This slight truism gets stuck in my head whenever boredom strikes. Am I boring? Maybe, sometimes.

But in my defense there are times that nothing sounds good, I don’t have my book with me, nothing on Netflix looks good, I’m sick to death of Hulu, I have no interest in Pinterest (see what I did there?), even YouTube videos aren’t cutting it.

I have been struck by boredom.

Silent, deadly, smothering boredom (apparently boredom is a ninja).

Boredom Ninja Strikes
Boredom Ninja wears beige to blend with his surroundings

Books and Writing are my only defense against this sneaky slayer of excitement.

Since I don’t have my book with me, but I do have pen and paper, I shall defend myself with…WRITING PROMPTS!

I Speak in Meme

I have not been blogging, I have not been tweeting, I have been utterly focused on editing my final draft.

Finally it is complete and I can start doing other things.

Here are other things.

Meme’s are everywhere, just like glitter is the herpes of the art world, Meme’s are the herpes of the internet. And I can’t get enough of them, in fact I have found them creeping into my everyday speech. Even at work I find myself uttering them under my breath.

“Dammit, Moon Moon,”

Meme’s come in every shape and size and are perfect for most any occasion.

Are you sold on them yet?

Obviously I am and here’s the thing, they’re here to stay.

They’re in our everyday language; it’s becoming a whole new form of slang. I talk with my nieces and nephews and they speak in meme’s and movie quotes. It’s the language of the new generation. So keep up or be left behind, know your Meme’s.

Don’t roll your eyes and get annoyed by the continual outbreak of this internet venereal disease, open your arms and embrace the weird, because the weird is here to stay.

Oh the Terrible Cliché

I originally started this post as an ode to office work and its monotony. Then I realized what a tired played out cliché that is. Everyone who has a job that requires doing the same boring work day in and day out knows how I feel, it’s nothing new.  Those who've gone before and those will come after will feel the same way I do. That my job is the ultimate cliché, my cubicle is beige, I crunch numbers all day long, my boss is neglectful.

Yep, that's me all day long, every day.

So here’s what I’ve realized, while my job is a cliché I am not.

I am an individual and so is every other person in every other office in the world.

While my job plays out a tired old tune, my mind and heart dance to the beat of their own drummer.

I am unique, my art is unique what I think and feel and create is unique.

And that’s my message for today.

You are unique!

Your job may be boring and beige, but you are not.
You are brilliant and full of life and color.
 You are wonderful!

p.s. the app, Paper, is a lot of fun, that's where I did the above art work.
